Attorney Dan J. Weisenburger
Board Certified Criminal Defense Specialist
Attorney Dan Weisenburger practices exclusively in the field of criminal defense, with an emphasis on representing individuals accused of felony offenses and DUI/OVI. His primary law office in Portage County is located in Downtown Ravenna, a 90-second walk from the Portage County courthouse. His Summit County office is located in the City of Stow at Ross Commons, less than 5 minutes from Stow Municipal Court.
Mr. Weisenburger began his legal career while still in law school at John Marshall College of Law in Cleveland, Ohio, by originally serving as a Ravenna Municipal Court prosecutor under the Ohio Supreme Court's Certified Legal Intern program. He also authored the criminal appellate briefs for the Portage County Prosecutor's Office during that time period, including many upholding murder convictions.
Former Municipal Court Prosecutor
After graduating from law school and passing the Ohio bar in 1981, Mr. Weisenburger continued to serve as a municipal court prosecutor for several years, establishing a reputation as a tough, formidable opponent in the courtroom. Since leaving the prosecutor's office, Mr. Weisenburger has concentrated on criminal defense litigation, using his vast experience to defend clients throughout Northeast Ohio.
Over Thirty Years Experience in Criminal Defense
Over the years, Mr. Weisenburger built a substantial criminal defense practice, skillfully defending thousands of clients and litigating charges in hundreds of criminal trials. He knows the local courts, the judges, the prosecutors and the intricacies of the criminal courts in Portage County, Summit County, and a few other courts in Northeast Ohio. His expertise in the field of criminal law have evolved from personal experience in the courtroom.
Nationally Certified Criminal Defense Specialist
Attorney Weisenburger is nationally certified as a Criminal Trial Specialist by the National Board of Trial Advocacy.
He is the only Portage County lawyer certified as a Criminal Defense Specialist, and one of a handful among Ohio lawyers.
As a Board Certified Specialist, Attorney Weisenburger is required to attend more Continuing Legal Education Seminars than non-certified attorneys, which allows him to remain at the forefront of the new laws in his field. This Continuing Legal Education must be in his chosen field, Criminal Defense.

Focusing his law practice exclusively on criminal defense, Attorney Weisenburger is the lead counsel of the firm, personally devoting his attention to each criminal case. Attorney Casey L. Cerreta
Criminal Defense, Family and Juvenile Law
Attorney Cerreta has practiced Criminal Law and Family Law since 2011. She has litigated and resolved many felony and misdemeanor cases through trial or successful plea negotiation. She served as an Ohio Supreme Court Certified Legal Intern through the Lucas County Public Defender’s Office from 2008 to 2010.
She has experience in numerous types of cases, in both adult and juvenile courts, including: Felonious Assault, Theft, Trafficking Drugs, Illegal Manufacture of Drugs, Possession of Drugs, Child Endangering, Domestic Violence, and many more. She has also researched and argued numerous Motions to the Court.
Divorce, Custody and Child Support
Attorney Cerreta left the public defender’s office to gain experience in Civil and Family Law. She worked as an associate at The Jeffery S. Watson Law Firm in Ashtabula County prior to joining the Weisenburger Law Firm. She handled every aspect of felony, misdemeanor and local ordinance cases for both adults and juveniles.
Attorney Cerreta also represented clients in child support and child custody matters, and is currently gaining knowledge in divorce matters. She knows that each case is unique, just as each family is unique. She works with clients to find successful individual resolutions.
While practicing in Ashtabula County, she was a member of the Young Professionals of Ashtabula County, Ashtabula County Bar Association, and the alumni group of her sorority, Alpha Chi Omega.
Attorney Cerreta graduated from the University of Toledo College of Law. She served as the secretary of the Criminal Justice organization and treasurer of the Public Interest Law Association, and taught undergraduate courses in the Legal Studies and Criminal Justice department at Brown Mackie University.
